Greetings from Patty Caballero

Dear Alumni,

As summer begins and the days grow warmer, I continue to reflect on the extraordinary achievements of AU's Class of 2025. The Class of 2025 was the largest graduating class in AU history, and we welcome the distinguished Eagles who now call themselves alumni, especially our Double and Triple Eagles.

One especially inspiring story from this year's commencement is that of my fellow Alumni Board member Pamela Higgins Harris, CAS/BA '72, MEd '73, SOE/EdD '25. Pamela earned her doctorate degreeat age 75, a testament to AU's belief in lifelong learning.

The Eagle spirit is rooted in ambition, impact and service, and our newest alumni are ready to live up to that legacy.

Just last month, Barak Levitt, SIS/BA '24,was named a 2025 Yenching Scholar through the Yenching Academy at Peking University, a prestigious master's degree program in China. Meanwhile a group of recent alumni and current studentsare saving lives through FindMyClinicalTrial, a startup that is matching critically ill patients with lifesaving treatment research. The company was launched on campus through the Veloric Center for Entrepreneurshipat AU's Kogod School of Business.

These accomplishments reflect the excellence we share as AU Eagles. I hope you feel as proud and inspired as I am by the new classes joining our ranks. Whether sharing career advice with a new grad or mentoring students, there are so ways we can strengthen and support our community.

Mark your calendars for upcoming alumni events, including a festive brunch at Airlie,AU's breathtaking hospitality and agricultural property in Warrenton, Virginia. This inaugural event is sure to be the perfect AU summer escape!

I'm also thrilled to share that nearly 5,000 Eagles made their voices known in this year's Alumni Survey-an 18% increase in number of responses from our previous survey in 2016. Thank you to all who participated. We're so excited to dig into the results and share more in the months ahead.

Also, please join me in welcoming our new Vice President of University Advancement Matthew Eynonwho joined us on June 1. Stay tuned this summer to learn more about Matthew's story and his forward-focused vision for activating our one-of-a-kind alumni network.

Go Eagles!

- Patty Caballero, SOC/BA '91, Kogod/MBA '00
