WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, at ICE Headquarters, Congressman Sam Liccardo (CA-16), who has been calling for Noem's resignation for months, and signed onto articles for her impeachment weeks ago, joined other members of Congress in forcefully and collectively denouncing ICE, and calling for Kristi Noem's ouster.
Rep. Liccardo said, "Friends and fellow Americans, we are cold, we are pissed off, and we are determined. But are we feeling any safer? Hell, no, we're not safer. This is a photo of Liam. We all know Liam. We don't know the names of the 3,800 other children who are being detained by ICE. We know the horrors of the shooting of two American citizens on the streets of Minneapolis. What don't we know that's not being filmed? …Dozens of human beings are being held in ICE detention facilities in leg shackles, without blankets, in a cold facility, with inadequate food. These are daily horrors that this agency is visiting upon our communities. It must stop. And it starts at the top. Kristi Noem must go!"
Rep. Liccardo stood shoulder to shoulder at the press conference with Chairs of the Congressional Tri-Caucus (which includes the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), and Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC)), the Democratic Women's Caucus (DWC), the New Democrat Coalition (NDC), and the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC).
