SAN FRANCISCO - June 2, 2026 - The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) announced it has advanced to Level 2 Airport Customer Experience Accreditation from Airports Council International (ACI), the trade association representing commercial service airports around the world. SFO first earned Level 1 accreditation in 2019 and had it renewed in 2025. This Level 2 accreditation acknowledges that SFO has demonstrated a deeper understanding of customer expectations through data analysis, journey mapping, frontline training and operational improvements.
"We are truly honored to earn Level 2 Customer Experience Accreditation from Airports Council International," said Airport Director Mike Nakornkhet. "Delivering an extraordinary airport experience requires continuous improvement, and ACI's Airport Customer Experience Accreditation gives us the roadmap to pursue that goal. My thanks go out to our entire team for this latest achievement."
The Airport Customer Experience Accreditation is a multilevel accreditation program developed by ACI to guide airports towards achieving excellence in customer experience management. There are five levels of accreditation, from Level 1 to Level 5. Airports will be accredited based on their practices in eight domains, which are: Customer Understanding; Strategy; Measurement; Operational Improvement; Governance; Airport Culture; Service Design/Innovation; and Airport Community Collaboration.
SFO is committed to providing an extraordinary airport experience, with seamless access, thoughtful amenities, sustainable design and inspiring artwork and exhibits.
