About the Florida Truck Driving Championships
Each year, the top drivers are selected from their respective companies to compete in the Florida TDC. This year, more than 370 drivers have qualified, from companies such as UPS, FedEx, Amazon, Publix Super Markets, Walmart, Trans-Phos, Oakley, and Florida Rock & Tank Lines. Qualified drivers have remained accident free and represent the top drivers statewide for their companies. With a combined total of more than 535,000,000 miles of safe, accident-free driving, these dedicated professionals have a proven commitment to roadway safety. As a comparison, a driver would have to drive 65-mph non-stop for 940 years without any violations or accidents. This new record is 105 million miles larger than last year's total, with an increase in drivers competing, continuing Florida's growth as one of the largest events in the country. Our event also includes Florida Highway Patrol's Inspector Challenge and created a class for Florida Department of Transportation's straight truck drivers to compete. In total, drivers compete in 11 different classes, including straight, tank, sleeper, twins, 3- to 5-axle, auto transport, flatbed, and step van, with all scores competing for the honor of Grand Champion, the highest total score in all three categories. Drivers will begin with a written regulatory exam, then compete in a pre-trip inspection, and conclude by driving the skills course. The Florida TDC is the qualifier to the National Truck Driving Championships hosted by American Trucking Associations, which will take place August 20-23, 2025, in Minneapolis, MN. The top drivers in 9 of the 11 classes will compete on a National Stage, representing "One Team Florida."
