TONIGHT: Trump Only Spent 5 MINUTES Talking About Health Care in his State of the Union After Sending Health Care Premiums Skyrocketing Arrow

Tonight, during his State of the Union address, Donald Trump spent only five minutes talking about health care - out of his entire 107 minute speech - as Americans grapple with skyrocketing health care costs after Trump gutted $1 trillion from Medicaid and refused to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits, increasing premiums for over 22 million Americans.

Most Americans say that their top concern is the cost of health care, and a majority of adults say they expect their health care costs to become less affordable in the next year. Nearly 1 in 3 adults say they are "very worried" about health care bills.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

"After ripping away health care from millions of Americans and skyrocketing premiums, Trump spent only 5 minutes addressing health care from the podium tonight. Most Americans say the cost of health care is their top concern as they worry about how to afford their bills or forgo coverage entirely. And they know why - Trump gutted Americans' health care and hiked premium costs, and tonight, he offered nothing to make health care more affordable. His Big Ugly Bill made the largest cut to Medicaid in history and put hundreds of rural hospitals at risk of shuttering - all so he could give massive tax breaks to his wealthy donors."

Despite Trump claiming tonight that he "will always protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid," Trump's "One, Big, Beautiful Bill" cut Medicaid by nearly $1 TRILLION - the largest cut in history which will leave millions uninsured and has already put over 300 rural hospitals at risk of closing. Then, Trump and Republicans refused to extend the enhanced ACA tax credits, causing health care premiums to skyrocket by an average of 114%.
