Sen. Moran, Kansas Delegation Announce $5.7 Million in Federal Disaster Aid Awarded to Kansas

WASHINGTON -U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) today joined Sen. Roger Marshall, M.D., (R-Kan.) and U.S. Representatives Tracey Mann (KS-01), Derek Schmidt (KS-02), Sharice Davids (KS-03) and Ron Estes (KS-04) in announcing that the Trump administration will award $5.7 million in federal emergency aid to the state of Kansas.

In August 2025, Sen. Moran led the Kansas delegation in urging President Trump to make a disaster declaration for the State of Kansas following the severe wind storms, flooding and tornadoes that occurred from June 3 through June 7, 2025. Kansas Governor Laura Kelly formally submitted the request for federal support on August 6, 2025.

"Kansans are no strangers to the severe impacts of natural disasters on our state," said Sen. Moran. "I appreciate President Trump and FEMA approving Kansas' request for federal support and a major disaster declaration following the devastating storms, winds, tornadoes, and flooding endured by Kansas communities earlier this year. This declaration will provide our state and local governments with resources to help Kansans recover and rebuild even stronger."

"I am so thankful to President Trump and his administration for ensuring that Kansas communities have the critical assistance they need to rebuild after the severe storms in June of this year," said Sen. Marshall. "The aftermath of these natural disasters left lasting impacts, and the dangerous flash flooding affected communities beyond where the storms hit hardest."

From June 3 to 7, 2025, severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding occurred in the following counties across Kansas: Barber, Butler, Chase, Cowley, Coffey, Franklin, Greenwood, Harper, Hodgeman, Kingman, Lyon, Morris, Osage, Stanton, Sumner and Wallace.
