ICC Trade Register becomes ICC Global Trade Intelligence Report to reflect expanded scope

  • 5 August 2026

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) announced today that its flagship Trade Register will be renamed the ICC Global Trade Intelligence Report. The new identity reflects the report's evolution over recent editions from a benchmark and analytical resource for trade finance risk data into a broader source of intelligence on how global trade responds to geopolitical developments, economic shifts and market disruptions.

Turning trade finance data into global trade intelligence

Since 2008, the ICC Trade Register has become a leading industry benchmark and analytical resource for trade finance, providing banks, regulators and market participants with robust data and insights on the performance and resilience of trade finance products. While robust risk metrics remain at its foundation, the report has evolved to provide deeper analysis for decision-makers across the global trade ecosystem.

Tomasch Kubiak, Policy Manager of the ICC Global Banking Commission said:

"For more than a decade, the ICC Trade Register has provided trusted data and insights on trade finance risk and performance. Today, institutions need more than data, they need intelligence. The new ICC Global Trade Intelligence Report reflects that shift combining industry-leading analysis with deeper insight into the trends, risks and developments shaping global trade."

Beyond risk benchmarks

The 2026 ICC Global Trade Intelligence Report will combine comprehensive trade finance risk benchmarks, including updated default and recovery rates, with deeper analysis of the geopolitical, economic and policy developments shaping global trade.

Building on more than 15 years of industry data, the report will provide insights into evolving trade corridors, regional market dynamics and trade resilience, while combining performance data with contextual analysis to help decision-makers understand not only what is happening across global markets, but why.

The 2026 edition will continue to provide insights tailored to different business needs with a Global Overview Report, regional reports and product-specific reports.

The first edition of the ICC Global Trade Intelligence Report is expected to be released in September 2026.

Expanding the contributor network

The ICC Global Trade Intelligence Report has also welcomed BBVA and Intesa Sanpaolo as new contributing members, bringing total participation to 22 global banks. Their addition strengthens coverage across products, markets and geographies, further enhancing the quality and breadth of the report's analysis.

Samuel Mathew, Chair of the ICC Global Trade Intelligence Steering Group and Managing Director, Head of Documentary Trade at Standard Chartered said:

"The ICC Global Trade Intelligence Report, formerly the ICC Trade Register was founded on a simple principle that better data leads to better business and risk decisions. As global trade faces increasing uncertainty and complexity, the report provides a unique, data-driven perspective on trade finance performance, risk and market evolution. By harnessing the collective experience of participating institutions, it equips industry leaders, policymakers and investors with the insights needed to support sustainable growth in international trade."
