High Point Anchor Rescue Training

On Monday, September 29th, Engine 3, Ladder 2, Squad 2, & Division 1 made time to review the high-point anchor rescue technique. This system could be used to quickly secure and lower an unconscious firefighter from an upper story to ground level.

In this scenario, the anchor setup & hauling system were secured to a 28' extension ladder. In some evolutions, theatrical smoke was used with members in full PPE and on SCBA air.

Firefighters rotated through the various positions during this hands-on review. A mannequin was used to simulate the unconscious member during the "rescue."
