McKinney Fire Department Hosts Push-In Ceremony for Rescue 41

Residents are invited to join the McKinney Fire Department as it proudly celebrates the arrival of its newest aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) vehicle, dubbed 'Rescue 41,' with a traditional Push-In Ceremony on Oct. 23 at 10 a.m., at McKinney Fire Station 4, 1401 Industrial Blvd., near McKinney National Airport.

Rescue 41 strengthens emergency response capabilities at McKinney National Airport with advanced fire suppression technology, high-capacity foam and water tanks, and state-of-the-art safety systems, ARFF operations require highly trained personnel and equipment that meet stringent FAA standards for response times and safety. Investing in Rescue 41 enhances the department's ability to manage aircraft incidents, structural fires, hazardous materials, and emergencies involving passengers, personnel, and ground equipment.

The push-in ceremony is a time-honored fire service tradition that dates back to the 1800s, when firefighters manually pushed their horse-drawn engines back into the station after returning from a call. Today, this tradition continues as a symbol of teamwork, pride, and the fire service's enduring commitment to protecting the community.

"Rescue 41 is an important safety investment for McKinney National Airport's current general aviation operations and future commercial service flights," said Airport Director Ken Carley. "Equipped with fluorine-free foam, which is safer for firefighters and the environment, the state-of-the-art response vehicle delivers reliability to protect people and property during on-airport emergencies.
