The Los Angeles region is under a Red Flag Warning, or high fire danger, Thursday to Saturday evening among ongoing wildfire outbursts, according to the National Weather Service.
Evacuation orders for areas touching at least three wildfires have been issued. The wildfires are expected to easily gain strength through the hazardous conditions in the area. The Los Angeles area is also experiencing high heat and high wind warnings as the temperature is expected to exceed 95 degrees and winds range from 40 to 50 mph; isolated wind bursts are expected to surpass 70 mph.
On Friday afternoon a brush fire, now called the Norte Fire, near Portico del Norte increased in severity. Flames grew from 10 to 250 acres in two hours. Evacuation orders have been issued for five areas within Orange County. According to local news reports, several structures are damaged.
The Norte Fire follows two others in the Los Angeles region within 48 hours. On Thursday, Los Angeles residents were cautioned of a fire near San Gabriel Canyon Road and Mirador in Azusa. As of Friday the, the Peak Fire is 41% contained across 43 acres.
On Friday, evacuations were issued for two areas near Encinal Canyon Road in Malibu. Within two hours the Bryson fire had nearly doubled in length from 101.5 acres to 200. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
According to CAL Fire, the Bryson fire was reduced to 147 acres and is 17% contained. Road closures and power shut-offs have begun as the fire remains at large.
Twelve other areas near the Bryson Fire remain under evacuation warnings.
Residents near the Bryson Fire can seek shelter at Agoura High School and pets are welcome at the Agoura Animal Care Center and the Pierce College Equestrian Center. Residents of the Norte Fire can seek shelter at San Juan Capistrano Community Center and San Clemente Community Center.
According to Cal Fire, over 400 personel are working to dissipate the hazardous conditions with the use of 64 engines, 11 hand crews, and two helicopters.
On Thursday evening, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass wrote on social media that while the fire is outside of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Fire Department is prepared to respond. The city has pre-deployed resources in the San Fernando Valley, Santa Monica Mountains, Hollywood Hills, and West Los Angeles.
The Bryson fire remains west of Malibu but is close to the devastating remnants of the area's Palisades and Eaton Fires in January 2025. The two fires forced over 200,000 residents to evacuate. The fires covered over 50,000 acres over 24 days, killing 31 people and destroyed nearly 16,000 structures.

Direct Relief is based in California and has provided emergency care medications for wildfires. The organization contributed over $18 million in medical and financial assistance across the region in response to the Palisades and Eaton wildfires across the Los Angeles region in 2025. This includes material medical aid to 45 healthcare facilities and 28 government or community agencies in L.A. County.
Wildfires can cause hazardous air and water conditions, induce stress, and contribute to widespread power outages. If forced to evacuate, some residents, like those with chronic conditions or who are elderly, face serious health risks.
During wildfire response, Direct Relief routinely offers 3M-donated N95 respirators, chronic disease management medications, personal protective equipment, hygiene supplies, and respiratory health medications to partner health centers and free clinics.
