West Hollis Timber Sale (SSE-1393-K)

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry & Fire Protection (DOF), gives formal notice per AS 38.05.945 that it intends to negotiate with a purchaser under the authority of AS 38.05.118 using a request for proposal process for the sale of commercial timber as represented in the in the West Hollis Timber Sale (SSE-1393 K). The timber will be marketed to a list of local mills and interested parties maintained by the DOF Southeast Area Office. The sale is a negotiated contract requiring "purchaser layout" and in-state manufacture. This volume will be negotiated and sold under the provisions of AS 38.05.118, in the form of one sale. The saw log volume to be offered is approximately 3,100 thousand board feet (MBF).

The area of the sale is 11 miles west of Hollis ferry terminal on Prince of Wales Island on the Klawock-Hollis Highway. The sale is in two locations, one by the Hydaburg Road junction and the other near the old waste pit at Mile 23.5, west of the Harris River Road. The timber sale area is found within Sections 7, 10, 11, 17 and 18, Township 74 South, Range 83 East, Copper River Meridian (CRM). The sale area is found within the Craig B-3 USGS quadrangle. None of the sale polygons (proposed harvest units) or roads are currently marked on the ground.

Proposers are required to fill out the Timber Sale Proposal Sheets provided in the Request for Proposal package and must submit a copy of their current Alaska Business License. The business license copy may accompany the proposal. For a proposal to qualify, proposers are required to submit a bid deposit amount of 5% of their bid amount. The successful purchaser is required to deposit a performance bond with the State of $20,000.00 and a stumpage deposit of 10% at the signing of the contract. The term of the contract is for five years.
