Orange County Welcomes Residents to 5th Annual Open House and Job Fair

Orange County Government opened its doors to the community on January 24 for the 5th Annual Open House and Job Fair, welcoming residents for a behind-the-scenes look at County operations, community priorities, and career opportunities. The annual event brought together local leaders, County staff, and residents for a day focused on transparency, engagement, and connection.

More than 800 residents attended the event at the County Administration Center. Inside, visitors explored 30 interactive booths hosted by County divisions, offering information on services, upcoming projects, and ways residents can stay involved. The Orange County Human Resources Divisionmet with 297 job seekers, providing direct access to employment opportunities within County government.

Guided tours were a highlight of the event, with residents participating in tours of the Mayor's Office and the Board of County Commissioners' offices on the fifth floor. The County Commission Chambers were also filled as residents gathered for a Meet and Greet, where they had the opportunity to hear directly from Mayor Jerry L. Demings, ask questions, and share feedback.

"Events like the Open House and Job Fair give residents a direct line to their local government," said Mayor Demings. "We want people to understand how their County works, meet the individuals serving them every day, and feel empowered to be part of the process."

For many attendees, the event provided more than information - it created real opportunities. Local resident Isaiah Haynes, a Pine Hills native and father of three, attended the Open House for the second consecutive year. During last year's event, Haynes learned about Orange County's Home Rehabilitation Program through the Housing and Community Development Division.

"After attending the Open House last year, we found out about the Home Rehabilitation Program and applied," said Haynes. "We were accepted in July, and our home is currently in the middle of the rehab process. It's been an incredible experience, and we're grateful for the opportunity to stay engaged and connected with our community."

Mayor Demings emphasized that resident participation remains central to Orange County's mission. "When residents show up, ask questions, and get involved, it strengthens our community and helps us better serve everyone," he affirmed.

As Orange County continues to grow, the annual Open House and Job Fair remains a key opportunity for residents to engage directly with local government, explore resources, and take an active role in shaping the community's future.
