President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb, accompanied by his spouse Suzanne Innes-Stubb, will pay a state visit to the Republic of Lithuania from 14 to 15 May 2026.
During the visit, special focus will be on deepening bilateral relations between Finland and Lithuania, comprehensive security, the defence industry and technological cooperation, as well as Russia's illegal war of aggression in Ukraine and support for Ukraine.
On Thursday 14 May, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and his spouse Diana Nausėdienė will receive the Finnish presidential couple with a ceremonial welcome in Vilnius. Next, the presidents will hold official discussions covering bilateral relations and defence cooperation, European security and defence capabilities, regional security, as well as current global issues.
After this, President Stubb will meet with Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė over a working lunch.
The programme also includes a meeting with the Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, Juozas Olekas, participation in a foreign policy discussion event, and the laying of a wreath at the monument to those killed in the fight for Lithuania's independence. To end the day, President Nausėda and his spouse will host a state banquet.
On Friday 15 May, the day will begin with a business forum, where President Stubb and President Nausėda will deliver the opening addresses. The forum will focus on the defence industry, defence and dual-use technologies, and resilience.
The presidents will then visit the Padvarionys Frontier Station, where they will be introduced to border control activities and the border guard school. In the afternoon, the programme will continue with a visit to a football school that provides sports opportunities for underprivileged and immigrant-background children. The state visit will conclude with a reception hosted by Finland's Ambassador to Vilnius.
Suzanne Innes-Stubb, the spouse of the President of the Republic of Finland, will have a separate programme in addition to the joint programme of the presidential couple. On Thursday 14 May, Mrs Innes-Stubb and Mrs Nausėdienė visit the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights and the Ukrainian Centre in Vilnius, where they will meet young Ukrainians and take part in a discussion on resilience. In addition, the spouses will visit Vilnius university. On Friday, 15 May, their programme includes a visit to the Faculty of Mechanics and studies in robotics at Vilnius Tech University.
President Stubb will be accompanied on the state visit by Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio and a business delegation with representatives from Basemark, Bittium, Confoot, Conlog, Exote, Gasgrid Finland, Gasmet Technologies, Image Soft, Insta, KNL Networks, KT Shelter, Millog, Mirka, Modirum Platforms, NestAI, Nokia, Oy Sisu Auto Ab, Patria, Perustava Group, Reaktor Defence and Security, Savcor, Savox Communications, Sensofusion, Temet Group, Varjo Technologies, Verona Shelters Group and YIT.
President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and his spouse paid a working visit to Finland in 2025. The previous President of the Republic of Finland, Sauli Niinistö, last paid a working visit to Lithuania in 2022.
