Europ Assistance Group continues to support affected customers by maintaining regular contact, providing reassurance, and ensuring access to locally appropriate medical care, with or without hospitalization, through our international medical network, where operationally possible and subject to local conditions, security constraints, and current limitations on air traffic and medical repatriation.
Europ Assistance Group remains committed to supporting our customers and providing clear information during this evolving situation.
On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched coordinated military strikes against Iran, prompting retaliatory strikes in the region and a swift surge in regional tensions. As a result, several countries in the Middle East-including Qatar and the UAE-have closed all or part of their airspace, and there have been significant impacts to international travel.
Since many flights between Asia, Europe, and the UK pass through Middle Eastern hubs, these airspace closures or restrictions are causing flight cancellations, missed connections, and delays for passengers. For safety reasons and due to airspace closures, airlines have in some cases suspended or rerouted flights. In some cases, they are offering options such as flexible rebooking, credits, and refunds to affected travelers.
Travelers are advised to stay informed by following the guidance issued by the authorities of their home country and to comply with instructions from local authorities and foreign ministries.
Please also check regularly with your airline, accommodation provider, or travel service providers to confirm whether services have been suspended or modified and to understand the alternative arrangements available.
Important: we recommend that you do not cancel your reservations yourself and instead wait for any changes or cancellations initiated by your airline or travel provider.
Please note that Europ Assistance Group travel insurance policies are designed to cover unexpected personal events during travel. In circumstances related to war, armed conflict, or similar events, benefits under travel insurance policies are limited in accordance with policy terms and conditions. Customers should refer to their policy documentation for full details of applicable terms, conditions, exclusions, limits, and sub-limits.
However, our teams remain fully mobilized to support our customers wherever possible. If you require medical advice or medical assistance, please contact our 24-hour Medical Assistance team using the contact details provided in your policy documentation.
If your trip began before this travel advisory and your return is delayed as a result of the current situation, your travel insurance policy may be automatically extended at no additional cost until you are able to return home.
If you are due to travel to the region, we recommend first consulting the official travel advice issued by your government or local authorities, particularly regarding any restrictions or destinations where travel is discouraged or prohibited. You should also contact your travel agent, airline, or travel provider to discuss the available options for modifying or rescheduling your trip.
Customers are encouraged to review their policy documentation to understand the applicable coverage, terms, conditions, and exclusions.
Europ Assistance continues to closely monitor developments and will adjust its operational response as appropriate in order to support customers during this evolving situation.
