The meeting highlighted a long partnership built between the ILO and Indonesia to promote social justice and decent work for all. Indonesia became a member State of the ILO in 1950-five years after its independence. The meeting also discussed joint efforts to strengthen the collaboration on various issues and the five of which are:

  • Evaluation of the Decent Work Country Programme 2020 - 2025 focusing on its three main priorities: 1. Effective social dialogue that promotes sustainable business and workers' welfare; 2. Job creation and youth employment; and 3. Enhancing protection for vulnerable groups of workers;
  • Support to the development of the new labour law as mandated by the Constitutional Court and to the development of the new labour regulation for platform workers;
  • Cost and benefit analysis for ILO's Conventions No. 155 on Occupational Safety and Health and No.190 on Violence and Harassment;
  • Inclusion of Occupational Safety and Health data into National Workforce Survey; and
  • Establishment of an Employment Research Centre to support one employment data and the development of evidence-based employment regulations.

"I hope that this continuous international collaboration can bring a positive contribution to Indonesia in strengthening its employment programmes and policies as well as in preparing Indonesia's world of work for better employment future," said Minister Yassierli.

"The ILO is committed to support Indonesia to promote social justice and decent work for its people. By strengthening our cooperation, we can create a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable world of work in Indonesia. The ILO stands ready to play its part in this crucial endeavour," stated Simrin.

As a tripartite organization, the ILO works closely with the key labour actors of its member States. In Indonesia, in addition to the Ministry of Manpower, the ILO has closely worked with the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo) and six Trade Union Confederations. The year 2025 also marks the 75th anniversary of Indonesia joining the ILO.
