JAKARTA, Indonesia (ILO News) - The ILO and the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower have reinforced their commitment to advancing social justice and ensuring decent work for all. During a recent meeting in Jakarta last December, Simrin Singh, ILO Country Director for Indonesia and Timor-Leste, discussed key issues with Yassierli, Minister of Manpower under the Cabinet of Red and White. Minister Yassierli accompanied by Anwar Sanusi, Secretary General, Diah Anggoro Putri, Director General for Industrial Relations and Social Protection, Surya Lukita Warman, Secretary of Directorate General of Industrial Relations and Purwanti Uta Djara, Head of International Relations Bureau.
The meeting highlighted a long partnership built between the ILO and Indonesia to promote social justice and decent work for all. Indonesia became a member State of the ILO in 1950-five years after its independence. The meeting also discussed joint efforts to strengthen the collaboration on various issues and the five of which are:
"I hope that this continuous international collaboration can bring a positive contribution to Indonesia in strengthening its employment programmes and policies as well as in preparing Indonesia's world of work for better employment future," said Minister Yassierli.
"The ILO is committed to support Indonesia to promote social justice and decent work for its people. By strengthening our cooperation, we can create a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable world of work in Indonesia. The ILO stands ready to play its part in this crucial endeavour," stated Simrin.
As a tripartite organization, the ILO works closely with the key labour actors of its member States. In Indonesia, in addition to the Ministry of Manpower, the ILO has closely worked with the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo) and six Trade Union Confederations. The year 2025 also marks the 75th anniversary of Indonesia joining the ILO.
