City of Valdosta Invites Community to Annual Back to School Community Block Party

The City of Valdosta Neighborhood Development team invites families, students, and community members to kick off the new school year at the annual Back to School Community Block Party on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Unity Park, located at 301 E. Central Avenue.

The free community event will provide students and families with resources and support as they prepare for the upcoming school year. Attendees can enjoy free school supplies, free food, music, family-friendly activities, and free haircuts for students.

Free haircuts will be available at the Multipurpose Room at the City Hall Annex, helping students start the school year feeling confident and ready to learn.

The Back-to-School Community Block Party is designed to bring together local organizations, businesses, volunteers, and residents to support educational success and strengthen community connections.

"We are excited to welcome families from across Valdosta to this year's Back to School Community Block Party," said Charizma Harp, Neighborhood Development Program Coordinator for the City of Valdosta. "This event is about more than school supplies and services, it's about ensuring our students know their community is invested in their success. We look forward to helping families prepare for a positive and productive school year."

School supplies will be distributed while supplies last.
