Fujifilm Unveils 4K Broadcast Zoom Lens “FUJINON UA22×4.8BERD” (Fujifilm)

In professional shooting environments such as news coverage, studio filming, and sports broadcasting, there is consistent demand for highly versatile zoom lenses that can cover a wide range of focal lengths, from wide-angle to telephoto, with a single lens. In response to these needs, Fujifilm introduced the "FUJINON UA18x5.5BERD" (hereafter "UA18x5.5") in 2017. The lens has been widely praised for its compact and lightweight design, along with its excellent optical performance.

The newly developed "UA22x4.8" builds on the features of the "UA18x5.5," including its compact and lightweight design and wide focal range covering wide-angle to telephoto. It further enhances functionality and expressive capabilities. Advances in lens manufacturing technology and a design that balances robustness with lightness have minimized increases in size and weight compared to the "UA18x5.5." As a result, the new lens achieves a compact and lightweight body weighing just 2.2kg, reducing the burden of shoulder-mounted operation and making it easier for operators to shoot for extended periods. Compared to the "UA18x5.5," which features a focal range of 5.5mm to 100mm, the "UA22x4.8" expands the range to 4.8mm to 106mm. This wider angle allows for shooting in narrow indoor spaces and capturing more immersive scenes in sports broadcasts.

Over many years, Fujifilm has developed and supplied broadcast lenses that address the specific needs of camera operators. In 2015, the company released the world's first 4K-compatible broadcast lens. Since then, the lineup has expanded to include 8K-compatible lenses, positioning Fujifilm as an industry leader in advancing video image quality. Moving forward, Fujifilm will continue to develop and provide high-performance lenses and accessories that enhance shooting comfort and meet the evolving needs of diverse video professionals.
