HARRISBURG - Rep. Milou Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton) announced Lehigh University has been awarded a $100,000 Keystone Historic Preservation Grant through the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC).
The funding will support the first phase of a project to stabilize the historic President Engine House in Bethlehem, including repairs to the structure's walls, archway and windows. The project will help preserve an important piece of the Lehigh Valley's industrial heritage and prevent further deterioration of the historic landmark.
"Pennsylvania is home to countless historic sites that reflect the ingenuity and determination of those who came before us," Mackenzie said. "I am pleased this funding will support efforts to preserve one of those important landmarks here in the Lehigh Valley."
The Keystone Historic Preservation Grant Program supports projects that identify, preserve, promote and protect historic and archaeological resources across Pennsylvania. The program is funded through the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund and administered by PHMC.
