Douglas & Jefferson Counties - The Colorado Department of Transportation and contract partner Sturgeon Electric will be starting work to install conflict warning systems at intersections in multiple locations in Douglas and Jefferson counties on Colorado Highway 74, Colorado Highway 83, and Colorado Highway 86 starting March 23.
Highway conflict warning systems use sensors and flashing lights and signs to alert drivers to potential collisions at dangerous intersections, especially those with poor sightlines or high crash rates. Installing these traffic warning systems will help to significantly reduce crashes in these rural areas.
Locations include:
Work will begin at the Gillian Avenue and Russellville Road locations, and will then move to the Deerfield location next, followed by the Kerr Gulch. Work is expected to be complete early summer 2026.
