Motorists traveling on State Route 93 in Sullivan County should be aware of road construction activities that will affect traffic.
Beginning at 7 p.m. tonight, April 16, State Route 93 will be closed in each direction between Murrell Road and State Route 347 (Lone Star Road/Mill Creek Road) as crews patch potholes and make guardrail repairs. Local traffic will be permitted, but southbound motorists will not be able to travel past Derby Drive. Motorists will be directed by onsite crews to use I-26 and I-81 to bypass the work zone. This closure will be in place until 6 a.m. on Friday, April 17.
This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.
As always, drivers are reminded to use all motorist information tools wisely and "Know Before You Go!" by checking travel conditions before leaving for their destination. Drivers should never tweet, text, or talk on a cell phone while behind the wheel.
