Driveway Tie-Ins Slated for Monday, Tuesday on Route 522 Project

10/24/2024

Clearfield, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) updated drivers on a project to improve approximately five miles of Route 522 in Lewistown Borough, Derry, and Decatur townships in Mifflin County. The project will address drainage deficiencies throughout the corridor and improve the ride quality of the road surface and multiple structures within the project limits.

On Monday, October 28, and Tuesday, October 29, the contractor will continue tie-in work, which adds or removes asphalt to match the level of driveways and side roads. This work will occur between Long Lane and Gus Road. Crews will also work on the shoulders and pour concrete steps throughout the work zone on these days. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.

Work slated through the remainder of the week of October 28 consists of placing topsoil, installing guide rail, and resetting guide rail throughout the entire work zone. Flaggers will be present in the roadway throughout the week.

PennDOT urges drivers to watch for slow-moving or stopped vehicles throughout the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, and always buckle up.

Overall work on this project involves roadway reconstruction, paving, drainage improvements, guide rail installation, pavement marking, bridge preservation work, and miscellaneous construction. Grannas Bros. Stone & Asphalt Co., Inc. is the contractor on this $6.2 million project. PennDOT now anticipates project completion in mid-November. All work is weather-dependent.
