Job Description

ACP is seeking an individual to expand the firm's deal sourcing efforts. As part of the ACP Business Development team, this individual would report to the firm's current Head of Business Development. In addition to being a firm ambassador for ACP among deal intermediaries, s/he will primarily assist with sourcing and evaluating new deals, managing our CRM, coordinating with investment team members and driving data enrichment & AI best practices within the BD team. Immediately upon joining the team, s/he will invest time in learning and ultimately being able to articulate ACP's investment criteria, portfolio company descriptions and add-on criteria.

Business Development responsibilities would include:

  • Direct coverage responsibilities of investment banks, business brokers and deal intermediaries
  • Continue and expand upon intermediary relationships both remotely (video / phone meetings) and by representing ACP at M&A industry conferences or in-person city visits
  • Review in-bound deal flow for initial fit with ACP's investment criteria
  • Review and coordinate execution of non-disclosure agreements
  • Assist in leading ACP's weekly pipeline meeting; followed by new deal coordination with investment team and banker follow-up
  • Maintain and improve the firm's CRM system (DealCloud) to track deal flow, manage contacts, foster shared communication and optimize deal origination efforts
  • Complete internal business development reporting and assist with other data needs for the firm

Desired Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will be a relationship builder with a proven ability to initiate and lead external conversations (over the phone and in-person), while also being self-motivated and engaged around the administrative side of the role which includes significant independent work, attention to detail and being highly organized.

S/he will also have the following competencies/qualifications:

  • Team player that thrives in a team-first environment built on trust, respect, integrity and partnership
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business or related field
  • 3-10 years of experience in finance, investment banking, corporate development or other transaction-oriented roles including backgrounds in credit, leveraged finance or transaction advisory services
  • Sufficient business acumen (basic knowledge of M&A processes and financial statements is required)
  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Self-starter with a proven track record of managing multiple projects with shifting priorities and tight deadlines for multiple stakeholders, while providing an exceptional work product
  • Highly focused, mature and results-oriented individual
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Hours, Location and Travel Requirements

  • This is a full-time position based in Cleveland, Ohio (fully remote candidates will not be considered)
  • Comfortable traveling as many as 3 days in a week and 2+ times per month
