Power system incident in Ukraine and Moldova

On 31 January 2026, at approximately 9:45 CET, an incident occurred in the Ukrainian and Moldovan power systems leading to significant outages and system separation from Continental Europe.

he separated area was resynchronised with the Continental European system at 10:05 CET. Ukrenergo and Moldelectrica immediately activated the system restoration procedures with the support of the neighbouring TSOs. The restoration of electricity supply to all consumers was well coordinated between Ukrenergo, Moldelectrica and the distribution system operators.
