Deputy Chairwoman Wanda Willingham, Legislators Maggie Alix, Mickey Cleary, Susan Laurilliard, Dr. Carolyn McLaughlin, District Attorney Lee Kindlon, and members of the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), were proud to join together to deliver home goods and toys in support of Albany County's annual Adopt-A-Family Program on Friday.
Overall, the Legislature supported eight families this year with $1,853 raised through its annual basket raffle and direct contributions from legislators. County leaders dropped off the supplies to the South End Children's Café for distribution throughout Albany County.

Albany County Legislature Chairwoman Joanne Cunningham said: "I am thankful that we can maintain, and even expand, this tradition of kindness. Even as we share what we can today, I am also grateful for our partners in the Department of Children, Youth, and Families who carry the grace and empathy of the holidays with them all year long. They care, they help, they make the world better, and that is what this season is truly all about."
Albany County Legislature Deputy Chairwoman Wanda Willingham said: "I adore this opportunity to give during the holidays. During this season of love and joy, I am proud we can and choose to share with our neighbors. With January just weeks away and our celebration of Dr. King's life coming up, I am always reminded that he once said, 'Life's persistent and most urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?' Today, this is what we are choosing to do for others."
Albany County Legislature Democratic Majority Leader Dennis Feeney said: "The Adopt-A-Family Program demonstrates the positive impact we can have when county government and community partners work together. By supporting families who need a little extra assistance, we help strengthen the well-being of communities across Albany County. I appreciate the dedication that makes this effort possible each year, reflecting a shared commitment to service and support for our residents."
Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy said: "The Adopt-A-Family program reflects the very best of Albany County, a community that shows up for one another, especially when families are feeling the financial strain of the season. I'm grateful that the Albany County Legislature, together with our hardworking team at the Albany County Department for Children, Youth and Families, continues to support this tradition and expand its reach. Together, we're not just delivering gifts; we're strengthening the fabric of our community and ensuring that every family feels seen, supported, and valued during the holiday season."
