The City of Concord government offices will be closed on Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Solid Waste Services
All Solid Waste collection services - garbage, recycling, bulky waste, yard waste, and loose leaves - will operate on a one-day delay. Residents are reminded to place their carts curbside no later than 6 a.m. by the day of their collection. Loose leaf season is continuing with the third and final collection cycle for Tuesday customers before entering the second chance program. Tuesday customers' final loose leaf collection is scheduled for January 20-23. Tuesday customers are reminded to have their loose leaves curbside by 6 a.m. beginning January 20 to be sure they don't miss their collection. Customers can follow crews' progress using the collection tracker at concordnc.gov/looseleaves.
Parks & Recreation
City of Concord recreation centers will follow holiday hours and open from 12-6 p.m. on Monday, January 19. The David Phillips Activity Center, Lake Fisher, and ClearWater Arts Center & Studios will be closed. The ClearWater Ceramics Center will be open regular hours to registered center users.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration Events
In partnership with the Concord-Cabarrus Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee, the City encourages residents to honor Dr. King's life and legacy by joining the celebration and attending the MLK weekend events.
The weekend celebration begins with a wreath laying ceremony on Thursday, January 15 at 6 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Concord. The celebrations continue with the Keeper of the Dream banquet on Friday, January 16 at 6 p.m at the Laureate Center in Kannapolis, and conclude with the annual Dream Day on Monday, January 19.
