On June 17, employees from the Aircraft Services Directorate (ASD) and the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) came together at the ASD Hangar in Ottawa to mark an important milestone: the official welcome of ASD employees to the CCG and the Defence Team.

Held during National Public Service Week, the event brought together employees both in person and virtually from across the country to celebrate this new chapter and recognize the valuable contributions of ASD personnel in supporting CCG operations and service to Canadians.

The event featured remarks from senior leaders, including Kevin Brosseau, Commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard; Robb Wight, Deputy Commissioner, Shipbuilding and Materiel; and Andy Cook, Director General, Aircraft Services Directorate. Participants also viewed a special video message from the Honourable David McGuinty, Minister of National Defence. Together, the speakers reflected on the significance of the transition and the opportunities ahead.

Reflecting on ASD's long history of collaboration with the CCG, Andy Cook remarked that "ASD has formally joined a family it already knows," highlighting the strong partnerships, shared values, and operational ties that have connected the two organizations for many years. Commissioner Kevin Brosseau echoed this sentiment in his welcome message to employees, concluding his remarks with a simple and heartfelt message: "Welcome home."

A highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of honorary wings to Echo, the CCG mascot. Employees then enjoyed an informal reception, providing an opportunity to connect with colleagues, strengthen relationships, and celebrate together.
