Yesterday, Senate Republicans overwhelmingly voted against extending enhanced ACA premium tax credits that millions of families rely on to afford their health care. Now, health care costs are set to double for more than 20 million Americans starting on January 1. Ahead of the vote, the DNC launched a new digital ad campaign targeting the homepage newspapers of vulnerable Senate Republicans in Ohio, Alaska, Texas, and Maine. The ads call out the Senators for their proven track record of choosing billionaires over lowering health care costs for their own constituents by extending the ACA tax credits.
Earlier this week, Democrat Eileen Higgins notched a historic win to become Miami's first Democratic mayor in nearly 30 years. Higgins ran a winning campaign that was laser-focused on lowering costs and improving the lives of Miami families. In the lead-up to Election Day, the DNC was all hands on deck to support Higgins' campaign, a bilingual organizing blitz to turbocharge GOTV efforts and turn out Miami voters for Higgins.
In Georgia, Democrat Eric Gisler clinched a victory in the Georgia House District 121 special election and flipped a Trump +13 district. Gisler's victory comes on the heels of last month's history-making Georgia Public Service Commissioner race, which saw the first Democrats be elected to statewide office in Georgia. Across the board, Georgia voters are siding with strong, commonsense Democratic leaders such as Gisler who won't rubberstamp Trump's toxic agenda, but fight for working families.
Also this week, Trump traveled to Pennsylvania's 8th Congressional District in a desperate attempt to do damage control on his bleeding approval rating and disastrous economic agenda that's hurting Pennsylvania's economy. Under Trump's watch, prices are skyrocketing, farmers and businesses are going bankrupt, and working families are in the midst of a health care crisis. Make no mistake: No matter how hard Trump tries to sugarcoat his disastrous policies, Pennsylvanians see right through it.
