01 April 2026

On April 1-2, 2026 a Belarusian delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov, is visiting the Sultanate of Oman.

On April 1, 2026 the first meeting of the Belarusian-Omani Joint Committee for Cooperation and Investment was held in Muscat under the co-chairmanship of M.Ryzhenkov. The co-chairman from the Omani side was the President of the Oman Investment Authority, Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi.

The meeting of the Committee was preceded by a series of specialized meetings and negotiations, where specific areas of interaction in the scientific sphere, agriculture, industrial cooperation, healthcare, science, mutual exchange of tourist flows, and the ICT sector were considered. The reached agreements were incorporated into the final document of the first Committee meeting.

During the session, the parties reviewed the progress of the Roadmap for cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Sultanate of Oman, signed by the heads of state in October 2025 during the official visit of the Sultan of Oman to Minsk. The results of joint work were discussed, and priority concrete steps for the development of further cooperation were outlined.

Particular attention was paid to issues of ensuring food security and the creation of joint ventures, including for the purpose of increasing mutual trade turnover and entering the markets of third countries.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the high dynamics of bilateral interaction, as well as the creation of favorable conditions for establishing contacts between economic entities and business circles.

The Belarusian side was widely represented at the Committee meeting. It was attended by representatives of the ministries of healthcare, agriculture and food, industry, the National Tourism Agency, the National Academy of Sciences, the National Bank, the Hi-Tech Park, and other organizations.

An agreement was reached to establish working groups in areas of particular interest to both sides.

Following the meeting, a protocol was signed reflecting the priority areas of Belarusian-Omani cooperation, along with an action plan for the implementation of the aforementioned Roadmap and all agreements reached at the highest level.

The first diplomat of the Belarusian foreign mission in the Sultanate was presented to the Omani side. This confirmed the practical implementation of the agreements between the leaders of the two countries on the mutual opening of embassies.

The work of the Belarusian delegation members continued after the Committee meeting in the format of targeted negotiations to consolidate the agreements reached.

A separate meeting took place between Minister M.Ryzhenkov and the President of the Oman Investment Authority, Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi. The interlocutors discussed in detail the implementation of agreements between the President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and the Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, further directions for the Joint Committee's work, the schedule of upcoming meetings, and participation in joint events.

One of the key topics of the negotiations was the continuation of work on forming a hub for Belarusian goods in Oman, which is intended to create additional conditions for diversifying the export of domestic products.

On April 2, the Belarusian delegation will continue working on a busy schedule. In particular, a number of meetings with the country's political leadership are planned; a Belarusian-Omani business forum will be held, organized by the National Centre for Marketing and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
