On day two, International President John Costa joined our members and leaders from across the Northwest gathered in Phoenix, AZ, for the ATU Northwest Conference Board Meeting. It was an incredible opportunity to come together, share knowledge, discuss key issues facing transit workers, and strengthen the solidarity that makes our union strong.
"I'm really happy to see the unity here," said Costa. "I've seen the Northwest grow. I've seen you pull together. I see and appreciate it, and the companies see it across the U.S. and Canada. They see that the ATU plays a heavy role. We might not be the biggest union in the room, but we carry a big bat and step up in more ways than most. A huge thank you to all the Locals for their hard work and dedication-together, we're driving change in our workplaces. Let's keep pushing forward, making strides for justice and equality in our transit systems. Stay safe out there. Thank you for representing. I was honored to be here."
The energy was high as we built new partnerships and solutions for the challenges ahead. From collective bargaining strategies to improving worker safety, we're united in our mission to ensure fair wages, better working conditions, and reliable transit services for our communities.
International Executive Vice President Yvette Trujillo, International Secretary-Treasurer Ken Kirk, International Vice Presidents Jim Lindsay, John Callahan, Art Aguilar, Michael Cornelius, and ATU Canada President John Di Nino also joined Costa at the conference board.
