Seawolf Dining strengthens food security on campus with 'Swipe Away Hunger' campaign success

Seawolf Dining and Catering is proud to announce the successful completion of the 2026 Swipe Away Hunger spring campaign.

Thanks to the generosity of residential students, 483 meal swipes will be distributed this fall semester to Seawolves experiencing food insecurity. Since the campaign launched in 2019 to combat food insecurity on campus, Seawolf Dining has collected and donated nearly 4,000 meal swipes, helping enhance the academic and personal journey of every Seawolf.

The Swipe Away Hunger campaign is one of many initiatives through which Seawolf Dining and Catering promotes food security on campus and throughout the Anchorage community. Seawolf Dining partners with the Seawolf Food Pantry, provides meals to individuals served by Brother Francis Shelter, and contributes up to $20,000 annually to programs that address food insecurity and student needs.

Seawolf Dining looks forward to welcoming the community to participate in their biggest food insecurity awareness event, the upcoming UAA Spirit Run: Run Against Hunger on Sept. 25. The event is sponsored by Yeti Dogs Alaska and raises awareness and resources to help combat hunger within our community.

Through strategic partnerships, community engagement, and ongoing investment in programs that address students' most basic needs, Seawolf Dining is removing barriers that stand in the way of student success.

Thank you to every student, resident, employee and community partner who has contributed to these efforts. Together, we are building a supportive campus community where every Seawolf can thrive.
