Polistina, Bucco Bill Strengthening Local Representation on Soil Conservation District Boards Signed

Senator Vince Polistina's (R-Atlantic) and Senator Anthony M. Bucco's (R-Morris, Passaic) bill to allow soil conservation districts to have additional supervisors in order to better represent the areas they serve and make more informed decisions was signed into law by Governor Sherrill.

"As our soil conservation districts continue to serve large and diverse regions, it's important that their leadership reflects the communities and counties they represent," said Sen. Polistina. "Giving the State Soil Conservation Committee the flexibility to expand district boards will ensure more local expertise is brought to the table, leading to stronger conservation efforts and better decision-making."

"New Jersey's soil professionals know their land, their communities, and the challenges they face better than anyone," said Sen. Bucco. "These soil conservation districts serve large regions and it's important that every county has a meaningful voice that spans the entirety of the land in the decision-making process. This bill helps ensure that voice is heard and represented, while strengthening conservation efforts without adding any cost to taxpayers."
