Priority question for written answer P-003602/2025
to the Commission
Rule 144
Jean-Paul Garraud (PfE)
Since 2015, the European Union has had a coordinator on combating antisemitism and since 2018, a coordinator on combating Islamophobia. In March 2022 and February 2025, I asked the Commission to appoint a coordinator on combating Christianophobia. I have yet to receive an answer to this request.
On 8 September 2025, in the Christian village of Ntoyo, Democratic Republic of Congo, the Allied Democratic Forces (an Islamic State-affiliated Islamist terrorist group) massacred more than 70 Christians who had gathered for Catholic funeral. These innocent people, including many women and children, were shot at point-blank range or slaughtered by machete. More than 100 people were kidnapped.
The next day, 30 Christian farmers had their throats slit in their fields, which was only met with deafening silence from the international community. These targeted massacres of Christian civilians show a clear desire to wipe out the religion.
Meanwhile, the number of anti-Christian hate crimes in Europe is skyrocketing: vandalised churches, attacked priests, attacked processions, Christmas markets targeted by Islamist terrorists.
