Radiologic sciences graduates applauded at pinning ceremony

KOKOMO, Ind. - Indiana University Kokomo's School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions (SNAHP) welcomed 15 new healthcare professionals in the radiologic and imaging sciences at its annual pinning ceremony.

Angela Opsahl, dean of the School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions, welcomed students, family, and friends to the celebration of the hard work, dedication, and commitment they have shown by completing their degrees. She added that it takes a strong, dedicated, and compassionate individual to enter the healthcare professions, and they will impact their communities through their work.

"You may never know the difference that you have made in someone's life with every smile, touch, and act of compassion provided while delivering care," she said. "Know that you have and will continue to make a difference in the lives of real people. Our society will be forever grateful that you have chosen your profession, and you will always be a part of the IU Kokomo School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions."

Heidi Sebastian, program director of radiologic sciences, congratulated the graduates on their persistence.

"Be assured the faculty understand your journey was neither swift nor easy," she said. "It has had difficulties, but you did not quit. I would like for you to look behind you at the individuals who are sitting here today. They have supported you as you navigated your path to being in this auditorium. I challenge you to support one another, to see the confidence inside yourself, and to continue moving forwards into a better future."

Anna Miller, clinical coordinator of the radiography program, offered congratulations on behalf of the faculty and staff.

"As you set forth, do not limit yourself, for there is no place on earth where your degree is not recognized, and remember-you have the distinct privilege of representing these respected radiologic sciences programs and the prestigious institution of Indiana University," she said. "With that privilege comes great responsibility to uphold this reputation. We are proud of your accomplishments and have the utmost confidence that you will, like your predecessors, be an exceptional reflection of your program, your campus, and your institution."
