Glasgow-Area Power Restored After Transmission Line Outage

Glasgow, Mont. - Sept. 4, 2026 - An outage affecting approximately 3,157 NorthWestern Energy customers in the Glasgow area began at about 11 p.m. on Sept. 3 after a Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) transmission line serving NorthWestern Energy substations and distribution lines went out of service.

The WAPA transmission line receives power from the federal Fort Peck Hydroelectric Project and the Eastern Interconnection. WAPA successfully bypassed affected equipment at the federal Fort Peck facility and restored transmission service, allowing NorthWestern Energy crews to restore power to affected customers by approximately 12:17 a.m. on Sept. 4.
