UPDATE Golf, Higgins Road at I-290/Illinois 53 weekend full closures

8/11/2026 UPDATE: Golf Road work and full closures have been rescheduled to begin Friday, Aug. 28. Updated details are highlighted below. Higgins Road work and full closures have been postponed until further notice.

CHICAGO - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that repairs to Golf (Illinois 58) and Higgins (Illinois 72) roads at Illinois 290/Illinois 53, in Schaumburg and Rolling Meadows, will require extended weekend full closures beginning, weather permitting, Friday, Aug. 14.

To complete the work, the following full closures are scheduled to take place:

Golf Road - weekend of Aug. 28

  • Starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, to 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31.
  • Full closure in both directions of Golf Road between West Frontage and East Frontage roads.
  • Eastbound detour: West Frontage and Woodfield, East Frontage roads.
  • Westbound detour: Algonquin (Illinois 62) and Meacham roads.

Higgins Road - work and full closures are postponed until further notice.

All schedules are subject to change due to multiple factors, including weather. Any updates will be shared with the public as far in advance as possible.

The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Alternate routes are encouraged. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
