As summer winds down, Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, is asking the community to help replenish the local blood supply by making a lifesaving blood donation. Vacations, busy summer schedules and fewer school blood drives often lead to a decline in donations, while the need for blood at more than 30 local hospitals remains constant. Every donation stays local, helping patients facing cancer treatments, traumatic injuries, surgeries and other medical emergencies.
To thank those who roll up their sleeves, Hoxworth is offering exciting opportunities throughout August, including an exclusive donor gift and one of Cincinnati's most unique blood donation experiences.
Stay cool while saving lives with August's donor gift
Throughout the month of August, all blood donors at any of Hoxworth's seven Neighborhood Donor Centers and most mobile blood drives will receive a free backpack cooler, while supplies last.
The insulated backpack cooler is perfect for keeping drinks and snacks cold during fall sporting events, Labor Day celebrations, family picnics or weekend adventures. It's Hoxworth's way of saying thank you to the generous blood donors who help ensure local patients have the blood they need when every second counts.
Give Blood at the Music Hall Blood Drive
On Tuesday, Aug. 4, Hoxworth and Cincinnati's arts community will once again come together for the Music Hall Blood Drive. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside the historic Music Hall Ballroom. Blood donors will enjoy free live performances every hour through the Cincinnati Arts Association's Arts in Healing initiative while making a lifesaving donation. Every donor will also receive *complimentary parking, special gifts from Music Hall partners, a chance to win tickets to the Cincinnati Opera or the Cincinnati Ballet and Hoxworth's August backpack cooler. Appointments are encouraged and can be scheduled online at http://hoxworth.org/groups/musichall
*Limited complimentary parking is available at 1228 Elm St. (between Music Hall and Memorial Hall). Enter from Elm Street or Central Parkway. Donors with appointments will receive a parking voucher by email to print and display. Walk-ins will receive a voucher for their vehicle when you enter the ballroom.

One blood donation can help save up to three local patients. Whether you visit a Neighborhood Donor Center, stop by a mobile blood drive or attend the Music Hall Blood Drive, your donation makes an immediate difference for families throughout the Tri-State.
