04 April 2025
The ANZAC Day March through the Ipswich city heart will return in 2025, in what has become a welcomed addition for many families.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the community has always shown immense support to Australian servicemen and women on ANZAC Day.
"Each year, we see thousands of residents line the streets of our city centre to pay their respects to those who served our country," Mayor Harding said.
"The march will start on the corner of Brisbane and Waghorn Streets at 10.45am and will finish in Tulmur Place, in the Nicholas Street Precinct. Ipswich RSL Sub-Branch requested this route following success in previous years.
"Council is proud to deliver this important community march alongside them. We encourage the community to join us in the city and commemorate those who served.
"There will be multiple road closures and diversions in place to accommodate the march, so we ask motorists to plan ahead and avoid parking in the impacted areas. Parking is free for three hours in the Nicholas Street Precinct car park where the march will end."
Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said commemorations will take place across the city.
"Local marches and services will be held across Ipswich at varying times throughout the morning to ensure residents will be able to attend a service that suits them," Cr Augustine said.
"Ipswich is a proud garrison city, with Australia's largest Royal Australian Air Force base in Amberley.
"Our community is always ready to pay their respects to our fallen soldiers and I would like to thank those who are currently serving our country."
Dawn services will be held at Brassall, Bundamba, Goodna, Ipswich and Rosewood, as well as other commemorations at Booval, South Ripley, Springfield Central, Ebbw Vale, Grandchester, Marburg, North Ipswich, Pine Mountain, Redbank and Woodend.
