Stafford Art Contest Celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary

Stafford County is celebrating America's 250th Anniversary with an art competition themed "What America Means to Me." The contest calls for artists to express what America means to them in any medium. There are two divisions - youth and adult - with a grand prize for each division plus three runner-up prizes. Winning artwork will be displayed in the lobby of the George L. Gordon, Jr., Government Center.

"This art competition gives our residents a chance to express what America means to them in their own unique way," said Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Deuntay Diggs. "I look forward to seeing the creativity, patriotism and personal stories reflected in their work as we celebrate this extraordinary milestone together."

The two divisions are: Youth - ages five through 12; and Adult - ages 13 and up. Artists are asked to briefly express what America means to them and to submit a digital photo of their work. The work can be in any medium or form. The work cannot be bigger than 24" X 24." Entries are limited to one per person.

Judging will be based on creativity and originality, connection to the theme, artistic expression, and overall presentation. We will select a grand prize winner for each division. Three runners-up will be selected in each age category as well.
