The annual 'Reclaim the Night' march, organised by the East Ayrshire Violence Against Women Partnership, will be held on Tuesday 25 November to stand against gender-based fear and violence.
The march has been running for several years now and continues to attract increasing numbers of participants, and it's hoped that this year's event will see even bigger numbers attending.
Councillor Jim McMahon, Cabinet Spokesperson for Housing, Transport and Communities, said: "We hope that as many people as possible will join us in a show of community solidarity to raise awareness about the dangers to women and girls from gender-based violence. We also want to promote a safer environment at night for women and girls to walk around in without fear.
"The march is just the start of a whole range of activities that are planned for the 16 Days of Action campaign which we are once again supporting with the aim of ending gender-based violence."
Anyone joining the march should gather at Tesco Extra car park on West Shaw Street, Kilmarnock at 5.30pm on Tuesday 25 November.
The march will follow a route around Kilmarnock town centre, and end at WG13 where tea and coffee will be available and there will be an opportunity to hear from guest speakers.
Participants are encouraged to dress warmly.
