With only four days until early voting starts, now is the time to make your plan to vote!

Early voting across Texas starts Monday, Oct. 21, and will run until Friday, Nov. 1. Times will vary depending on location. To vote in person, all you need is a state-issued photo ID (ex: a driver's license or a passport). You can find your nearest polling place or see a list of locations in your county on the Secretary of State's website.

Know Your Voting Rights

Once you have your plan and make your way to your polling place, remember you have rights to:

  • Written instructions on how to cast a ballot.
  • Ask the polling place official for instructions on how to cast a ballot (but not suggestions on how to vote).
  • Cast your vote in secret and free from intimidation.
  • Receive up to two more ballots if you make a mistake while marking the ballot.
  • Bring an interpreter to assist you if you have limited English proficiency or have a disability.
  • Cast a provisional ballot if your name does not appear on the list of registered voters.

If you aren't going to be in the county or aren't able to vote in person, make sure to check out our previous Hotline piece about how to request an absentee ballot in this election! Additionally, check out votetexas.gov for more information on voting, getting a sample ballot, tracking your mail-in ballot, or filing an election complaint.
