The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) recognized Sherrille Shabazz, EdD, Vice President, Student Development and Campus Life, Title IX Coordinator, and Athletic Director, among its 2026 Enterprising Women in Commerce on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Glen Ridge Country Club in Glen Ridge, NJ. Shabazz is a resident of Yonkers, NY.

According to CIANJ, the Enterprising Women in Commerce Awards celebrate women who "capture the essence of hard work, determination, and perseverance as they continue to inspire and encourage others."

"Congratulations to all of this year's honorees for the inspiring example they set through their hard work, bold leadership, and perseverance," said Anthony Russo, President, CIANJ. "Their accomplishments and dedication serve as an inspiration to us all."

In her role as Vice President, Student Development and Campus Life, Shabazz provides leadership and vision for all student engagement programs at Berkeley College, including volunteerism and clubs, athletics, counseling, accessibility services, and the annual Commencement ceremony. Shabazz also serves as Title IX Coordinator, ensuring the College adheres to federal and state statutes and provides a learning and working environment that is free of discrimination.

According to Shabazz, mentorship is central to her approach, as she guides students, many of whom face challenges as first-generation students, through their academic and career journeys.

"My work is driven by impact," Shabazz said. "By helping our students build confidence, access opportunities, and redefine what's possible, I am contributing to stronger communities and a more equitable future."

Shabazz holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration from Dowling College, and a Master of Arts in English Literature and a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing Arts and Public Relations from the State University of New York at Oswego.
