The project connects European artists with American peers, local communities, and leaders in cultural industries. Each year, the Transatlantic Rising Stars Project will support artists across the three sectors of visual arts, film, and music through on-the-ground experiences in the United States.

Today's call invites mid-career visual artists from across the 27 EU Member States to apply for fully-funded eight-week artist residencies in locations across America. Applications will be accepted through 30 November 2025, and selected residencies will take place between April and early June 2026.

Selected visual artists will develop new work, participate in community-based projects, and engage with American cultural industry professionals through a combination of residencies, showcases, and professional development opportunities. In addition to being hosted as community artists-in-residence, participants receive structured guidance and support to collaborate with locally-rooted artists, and opportunities to engage with the American community they are joining.

"This program is a landmark moment - the first time the EU has created a program designed to bring European artists to the U.S.," EU Ambassador to the U.S. Jovita Neliupšienė said. "American and European artists will be working side by side, creating new pieces that connect with local communities -- all the way from Alaska to North Carolina. I hope this program will create lasting friendships and networks that not only boost the artists' careers but also help Americans and Europeans understand each other better."

This inaugural call for applications begins a three-year initiative to strengthen transatlantic cultural ties, expand professional networks, and open new pathways for collaboration. In the coming months there will be an additional two calls for the 2026 program year, for mid-career musicians and film directors.

How to Apply
Applications are open from October 28 to November 30, 2025. The application portal is available on the EU Delegation to the United States website.
