On 3 June, the European Union brought its strong creative and innovation ecosystem to South by Southwest SXSW London, highlighting Europe's role as a global leader in technology, culture and entrepreneurship.
A Strong European Ecosystem
Together with its 27 Member States, the European Union represents one of the world's most powerful ecosystems for creativity and innovation. From cutting-edge start-ups to world-leading research institutions, Europe continues to foster talent, drive technological advancement and support sustainable growth across sectors.
At SXSW London, this strength was on full display.
Celebrating Collaboration and Innovation
In partnership with New Dutch Wave and the Creative Industries Innovation Investment Council (CIIIC), the EU Delegation hosted a networking event focused on the value of European collaboration. The event brought together creative start-ups, innovators, entrepreneurs and industry leaders to exchange ideas and explore new opportunities.
Held at the NL Lounge, the event spotlighted European start-ups showcasing their technological creativity and forward-thinking solutions throughout the festival. The space served as a hub for inspiration, demonstrating how collaboration across borders can unlock new possibilities and accelerate innovation.
A Timely Moment for European Tech
The event coincided with the launch of the EU's Tech Sovereignty Package -an ambitious initiative aimed at strengthening Europe's capacity in key technological areas such as cloud computing, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and open-source solutions.
This package underscores the EU's commitment to turning its talent, industrial base and Single Market into a foundation for technological leadership and resilience.
Connecting Ideas Across Borders
SXSW London served as a meeting point for global ideas and partnerships. By bringing together diverse voices, it reinforced the importance of cross-border collaboration in shaping the future.
For the EU, the festival was not only an opportunity to showcase its strengths, but also to build meaningful connections with partners in the UK and beyond.
As conversations unfolded in Shoreditch, one message stood clear: Europe's collaborative spirit remains a driving force behind its creative and technological success.
