U.S. News & World Report ranks four Novant Health hospitals among North Carolina's top 20

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - U.S. News & World Report has recognized Novant Health for excellence across a broad range of specialties, procedures and conditions in its 2026-27 Best Hospitals rankings, naming four Novant Health hospitals among North Carolina's top 20 medical centers.

Representing the Charlotte, Triad and Coastal regions of North Carolina, these top-ranked hospitals also earned a combined 43 high-performing ratings from U.S. News, which reflects strong outcomes and quality care in areas ranging from cancer to heart care to orthopedics. They are:

• Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center - Tied for No. 6 in North Carolina; ranked high-performing in 14 procedures/conditions.
• Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center - No. 12 in North Carolina; ranked high-performing in 10 procedures/conditions. Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center also tied for No. 3 in North Carolina for rehabilitation.
• Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center - Tied for No. 17 in North Carolina; ranked high-performing in 10 procedures/conditions.
• Novant Health Matthews Medical Center - No. 20 in North Carolina; ranked high-performing in 8 procedures/conditions.

In addition to the four hospitals ranked among North Carolina's top 20, eight other Novant Health hospitals - Novant Health East Cooper Medical Center, Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, Novant Health Hilton Head Medical Center, Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center, Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, Novant Health Medical Park Hospital, Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center and Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center - earned high-performing designations from U.S. News.

Notably, seven Novant Health hospitals received high-performing designations for expertise in hip replacement and maternity care, and five received high-performing ratings for spinal fusion back surgery. At least three hospitals ranked as high-performing across the following procedures and conditions: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, knee replacement, hip fracture care, pacemaker implantation, colon cancer surgery, lung cancer surgery and pneumonia.

U.S. News & World Report's annual Best Hospitals rankings evaluate thousands of hospitals nationwide based on patient outcomes and other quality measures, helping patients and families make informed decisions about where to receive care.

This year's rankings build on a strong track record of recognition from U.S. News, with Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center and Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center also named among North Carolina's top 20 hospitals in the 2025-26 rankings.
