Closure of the tunnel linking the CERN sites on 23 and 24 September

The tunnel linking the CERN sites will undergo renovation works from 20 September 2024 for two weeks.

It will be completely closed to vehicles on 23 and 24 September all day. Note that the access to Route Schrödinger will also be closed for the Entrance E direction until 7 October inclusive. Traffic control signage and barriers will be installed on the roads giving access to the tunnel.

Apart from this temporary closure, traffic during the renovation period is expected to be minimally impacted. The tunnel linking the CERN sites will remain open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. under the supervision of a security guard. Transit through that gate (which is a border crossing) will still require specific transit authorisation (ADaMS).

We also invite you to take note of the traffic restrictions surrounding the 1 October event CERN70: Inspiring the future.

Apologies for the inconvenience.
