Press Release: Colorado Court Sentences Convicted Scammer Jazzmen La-Vone Gaskins to Nine Years for Securities Fraud

July 15, 2026 - The Adams County District Court sentenced Jazzmen La-Vone Gaskins to 9 years of incarceration and 3 years of parole supervision. The sentence is related to Gaskins' 2026 guilty plea on one count of securities fraud, wherein Gaskins solicited investments from a Colorado investor through his company JG Capital Finance Corporation. Gaskins is currently incarcerated in Florida for a 15 year sentence for a federal charge of sex trafficking. His Colorado sentence for securities fraud was ordered to run concurrently with the federal sentence and included repayment of $116,675 in restitution.

Gaskins was originally indicted by a state grand jury on August 14, 2025, for securities fraud. According to the indictment, he solicited more than $100,000 from at least one Colorado investor through his company JG Capital Finance Corporation. The company issued promissory notes and Gaskins made false promises of unsubstantiated high interest rates, a guarantee to repay the principal of the note and use of proceeds for his business.

Gaskins failed to disclose that he would use the investment funds for personal expenses and misled the investor to believe her investments would be secured against a personal bank account containing over $4 million. In the course of the scheme to defraud, Gaskins also allegedly pretended to be an asset recovery lawyer who offered to assist the investor if she were to pre-pay legal fees.

The Colorado Division of Securities investigated this matter, and the Colorado Attorney General's Criminal Justice/Financial Fraud Unit prosecuted the case.
