The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) today announced it will conduct a targeted traffic enforcement effort in September focusing on improving safety in school and street work zones. Officers will monitor areas where violations create an increased risk to students, pedestrians, road workers and other drivers.
As students return to school and street construction continues throughout the city, LPD encourages drivers to slow down, remain alert and obey all posted traffic signs and speed limits. Drivers are reminded that speed limits may be reduced in school and work zones and that penalties for certain violations may be increased. Drivers should remain attentive to changing traffic patterns, construction signage, workers, pedestrians and children traveling to and from school.
This traffic enforcement effort is supported through funding provided by our safety partners at the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
