Celebrate 'Denim Day' April 30 as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Celebrate 'Denim Day' April 30 as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April 24, 2025

CW: Discussion of supporting survivors of sexual violence

Join Survivor Advocacy Services and the Counseling and Wellness Center in Red Square on Denim Day, Wednesday, April 30, from noon to 3 p.m., to raise awareness about the misconceptions around sexual assault. Wear your favorite denim outfit and stop by our table to pick up resources and learn more about this day, the longest-running national sexual violence prevention education campaign.

Wearing denim on Denim Day is a symbolic message that clothing never equals consent. No matter what we are wearing, every one of us deserves to have autonomy over our own bodies and to never experience sexual assault. We are all worthy of love, dignity, and respect.

Three Ways to Get Involved:

  • Share information and spread the word about Denim Day, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Survivor Advocacy Services at Western. Share our @bewellwwu posts!
  • Wear denim on April 30 and tag @bewellwwu in your photos!
  • Visit our table on April 30 in Red Square between 12 and 3 p.m. to learn more and to show us your Denim Day outfit in support of survivors of sexual assault and to promote a culture of consent!

If you are a Western student who is experiencing or has experienced relationship abuse, sexual violence, stalking, or harassment, you are not alone and support is available through Survivor Advocacy Services at WWU. Visit cwc.wwu.edu/survivorservices to learn more about support options and resources.
