JOHNSON COUNTY - Crews will be conducting traffic shifts on U.S. Route 50 west of Warrensburg between Missouri Route 58 and Missouri Business Route 50 beginning Monday, May 12. Currently, 50 Hwy eastbound and westbound traffic has been reduced to one lane. During the shift, crossovers will move the open eastbound lane to the westbound lanes in a head-to-head traffic configuration between approximately NW 311 Rd. and NW 191 Rd. The shift is part of the ongoing work at the U.S. Route 50 Safety and Operational Improvements in Johnson County project (details: U.S. Route 50 Safety and Operational Improvements in Johnson County | Missouri Department of Transportation). The configuration is scheduled to be in place through June 2026. All work is weather permitting.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can also be short-term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
