ATLANTA - State Representative Charles E. "Chuck" Martin (R-Alpharetta), chairman of the House Higher Education Committee, today presented House Resolution 827 to the FCS Innovation Academy Splatoon 3 Team, congratulating them for their undefeated 2024 season and championship victories in esports competition.
"Esports requires strategy, communication and discipline, and this team has shown those qualities at the highest level," said Chairman Martin. "Their success brings honor not only to Innovation Academy, but also to our community and the State of Georgia. We are proud to recognize them as champions."
The team captured the GHSA Esports State Championship at the University of West Georgia after completing the Spring 2024 season, then went on to win the PlayVs National Championship Tournament, earning national recognition and more than $1,000 in scholarships for each player.
Head Coach Zabby Heying was commended for leadership and commitment in preparing students for competition, both on and off the screen.
The resolution, adopted by the Georgia House of Representatives, affirms the accomplishments of the Innovation Academy Splatoon 3 Team and celebrates the growing role of esports in education, teamwork and career preparation.
Representative Chuck Martin represents the citizens of District 49, which includes a portion of Fulton County. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2002 and currently serves as Chairman of the Higher Education Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education, Creative Arts & Entertainment, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Regulated Industries, Retirement, Rules and Ways & Means committees.
